How to Make an Emergency Repair to a Wire Screen

Until you're able to get the wire screen repaired after a hole has been created in it, this easy and fast temporary fix will at least help keep the insects out for a short while.

Steps

    Locate the kitchen plastic cling wrap.

    Cut out two pieces that are large enough to cover the hole or tear.

    Place one piece on either side of the screen hole or tear. The plastic wrap will cling to itself, creating a covered barrier over the hole.
    • It might be helpful to have another person on the other side of the screen if you can't reach around easily.

    If you can't fix the screen yourself, call the screen repair person and have the screen repaired as soon as possible. This isn't a long-term fix but it's a handy one, especially if the mosquitoes or flies are threatening to come inside.

  • Measuring tool for hole (optional - you can probably guesstimate)
