How to Make an Anime Kitty Hat
One Methods:Alternate Method
Have you gone to an Anime convention or seen some one wearing a kitty hat? Well you can make one pretty easy and cheap. (most people at cons charge around $25 for one) You could also make bunny or other animal hat if you like.
Steps
- 1Buy the fabric.
- 2Fleece or that furry fabric is best for this. it can be anywhere from $1-$12 a yard, it depends where you get it and how nice it is. You will need about 1 or 1 1⁄2 yards (0.9 or 1.4 m).
- 3Measure your head.
- 4Measure the length around your head (see A)
- 5Measure the length from the middle of your forehead to the middle of the top of your head (see B). Write it down so you don't forget.
- 6Make your self a pattern. You can print out mine if you like but it might not work for your head.
- 7Make 4 "pattern 1"s using your measurements.
- 8Pick your ears, use pattern 2,3,or 4 for kitty ears or 5 for floppy bunny ears. Make 2 patterns for each ear. (you should have four ear patterns)
- 9Cut out your patterns
- 10Pin the patterns to your fabric and cut the fabric out.
- 11Take 2 "pattern 1"s and place them together bad side out and sew up one of the edges.
- 12Repeat number 6 with the other "pattern 1"s
- 13Sew your ear patterns together so that you are left with 2 ears.
- 14Take your two sewn together "pattern 1"s and place the together with the kitty ears on the edge facing inward (see picture)It is kind of like a kitty ear sandwich.
- 15Sew up the sides. don't sew up the bottom and make a 1⁄2 inch (1.3 cm) seam at the bottom. Next, flip right side out.
- 16Enjoy your hat! It will be wonderful!とてもかわいい♥ (It's very cute)
Alternate Method
- 1
- 2While buying fabric, pick up a cheap fleece hat pattern, or find one online.
- 3Follow the directions to sew the hat, but leave the top side seams open.
- 4Cut out four identical triangles of fabric for the ears, and sew them together so that you have two triangles. (Make sure you have the 'right' side of the fabric facing in, then turn inside-out so the seams don't show!)
- 5Sew the triangles into the seams on top of the head, adjusting as necessary until you're pleased with the outcome.

Tips
- Good luck. ^^
- A pink triangle sewn on the front of the ear may make it look more ear-like.
- You can sew on a bow to make it very "kawaii" or cute and fun.
- OR you can use a regular beanie then flip it inside out to then cut the ears and sew them. Flip it again and you are done!
Warnings
- Be careful when sewing, you might sew your fingers by accident or something odd like that.
