How to Make an Advocaat Snowball

The snowball cocktail is an amazing festive season drink that warms the taste buds and body too. The advocaat snowball is an alcoholic drink that does not taste too strongly of alcohol, making it the perfect drink to pass round to (of-age) family and friends. While it is possible to buy packs of individual bottles of pre-made snowball drinks, they taste completely different from the fresh and authentic homemade version. Here are just a few simple steps to show you how to make this famous drink the best way possible.

  • Advocaat
  • Limes (freshly squeezed) or lime cordial
  • Sparkling lemonade (the clear kind, not the cloudy sort)
  • Maraschino cherries (optional)

  1. 1
Add a double measure of advocaat to your glass.
  2. 2
Add one or two ice cubes to the glass.
  3. 3
Squeeze the fresh lime into the glass (quantity depending on your own taste) or use lime cordial. Fresh lime juice will really add something special to this drink, so if you can use it, then do.
  4. 4
Fill to the top with lemonade.
  5. 5
Cut a slice of lime. Pop it in or on the side of your glass or, put a maraschino cherry on a cocktail stick across the top of the glass so a little of the liquid drips in.
  6. 6
Add a straw or a cocktail umbrella.
  7. 7
Serve. There you have it! The perfect snowball drink - great for all year round, especially at Christmas or festive season time.

  • To make a batch of the drink, make a jug full and pop it in the fridge.

  • Obviously, some people like their alcohol stronger or weaker than others. This recipe will work with a single shot of advocaat or up to as many shots as you can handle!
