How to Make Agar Fruit Gel

Fruit gel made with agar is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon agar flakes
  • 2 cups apple juice (or other fruit juice)
  • 1 cup berries or chopped fruit

Steps

    Add the juice and agar flakes to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

    Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

    Stir constantly until the flakes dissolve.

    Pour into the bowl. Allow to sit for 10 minutes.

    Place in the fridge to set for 30 minutes. Serve once set. The gel can be spooned out or cut into squares for serving.

Tips

  • If pouring into a mould that you want to turn out, lightly oil the mould first, or immerse the mould in cold water. Unmold by immersing the mold in warm water.
