How to Make a Wine Rack from Old Tins or Cans

Here is a very easy wine rack to make from used food or drink tins or cans. It's small but that makes it ideal for a dining room where you want to keep just a few bottles always ready for dining and wine evenings.

Steps

    Assemble the items needed. These are listed below under "Things You'll Need".

    Use the can opener to remove the tops and bases of each tin or can.

    Paint undercoat on the cans or tins both on the inside and the outside.

    After the undercoat has dried, lightly sand each tin or can.

    Glue the cans together.

    Paint with one to two coats of enamel paint. Insert the painted tins or cans. If they fit snugly, manoeuvre them into position with care. If there are gaps and the tins or cans move, glue them into place so that they don't fall out.

    Place the wine rack wherever it will be useful.

  • Choose colours of paint to match your colour scheme in the room where you'll keep the wine rack.

  • A wooden box, or pieces of wood to make a box of a suitable size
  • Large tins or cans - measure them to fit inside the box and be sure to wash them clean
