How to Make a Toy Sofa from Card Board and Play Doh

This simple sofa is easy to make and will look great in your doll or model house.

    Place the cardboard on a flat surface. Use the template measurements given.

    Use your pen and ruler to draw the outline of the template shapes.

    Use your scissors to cut out the template shapes of the sofa.

    Assemble the template pieces and use the glue to stick them in place.

    Add some sticky tape or craft tape to the joins to give the sofa some extra strength.

    Using the cardboard templates as a guide place them on the paper you are going to use to decorate the sofa.

    Using the templates again, draw a larger outline of the templates so that you have enough paper to overlap the undecorated sofa.

    Take your scissors and cut out the slightly larger outline of the sofa templates.

    Glue the paper onto the cardboard sofa

    Place your Play-Doh onto a flat surface and with your knife cut out four rectangle pieces to form the back and seats of your sofa

    Place the four pieces onto the sofa


  • Consider using bright sparkly paper
  • Try and match the color of the Play-Doh to the color of your paper.


  • Supervise children when using scissors and hot glue gun

  • Hot glue gun or strong glue of your choice
  • Colored or patterned paper
  • Sticky tape such as Scotch tape or arts and crafts tape
  • Knife to cut the Play-Doh
