How to Make a Steamer (Drink)

A steamer is an easy, delicious, milk based drink that can be very relaxing after a hard day, without the amount of caffeine in coffee and hot chocolate.

  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk
  • 2 tablespoons (25g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon or few drops vanilla extract, to taste

Gather the items listed in Ingredients. Measure the milk and put it in a heat and microwave safe measuring cup or mug.
  2. Image titled Make a Steamer (Drink) Step 2
Microwave the milk for approximately 1 minute 30 seconds, depending on your microwave. You want the milk to be hot, not just warm, or it won't dissolve the sugar.

    Add the sugar.
    • Stir until it's dissolved.

    Add the vanilla extract.
    • Give the drink one final, quick, stir.

Let cool a few minutes before drinking.

  • Vanilla extract is traditional and a good place to start, but you can use a few drops of any flavoring oil in its place.
  • Make sure the milk is HOT, not just warm. The sugar won't dissolve if it isn't.
  • Flavoring oils are available in most craft stores, with the cake and candy making supplies. Baking supply stores may also carry them.

  • NEVER put flavoring oils in plastic containers. The plastic will "soak up" the flavor and will make everything else taste like it.
  • Always pay attention when microwaving things. Don't leave it unattended.
  • Do remember to let the drink cool a few minutes! You don't want to burn your tongue!
