How to Make a Robot Model Using Recycled Trash

Every day items can start to build up around your house. This robot can be a great toy for your kids and can help recycle some items you have around the house. You could even use place it in your garden for decoration. Start with Step 1 to learn how make one.

    Obtain a medium sized cardboard box. Turn it so it is the right way up and fold the flaps over. This will be the body of the robot.

    Get an empty sweetcorn or pea tin can. Remove the lid completely and lightly sand the edge to make it smooth and to prevent cutting yourself. Turn it so the sharp edge is upside down and glue the sharp edge onto the cardboard box using a hot glue gun.

    Get a small cardboard box. A suitable size would be a box for headphones. Glue the box onto the bottom of the can. This box is for the head of the robot.

    Glue two old CD's on two opposite sides of the bigger box. This will be part of the robots arms.

    Glue two old saucers to the CD's. The saucers can be any size you like, make sure the saucers don't have any cracks in them. The cracks can separate and the saucer will fall apart.

    Find two rectangular egg cartons. Glue them to the bottom of the first box. They will be the feet of the robot. How big your egg cartons will be depends on how big your box is. A larger box would need a larger egg carton to support itself.

    Decorate the robot. Paint it a colour of your choice and add details.


  • Always supervise children when using the hot glue guns.
  • Be careful around the sharp edges of the tin cans.
