How to Make a Quiver for Arrows Using Cans

Cans can make excellent quivers for arrows. To make one quiver, you'll need five clean cans, so remember to set the cans aside after cooking each night. With some simple handiwork, these five cans can be quickly transformed into an excellent quiver that will hold up to eight arrows.

Steps

    Get the first empty can. Remove top using a can opener.

    Flip the same can. Drill several 1/8” inch holes in the bottom. These are the quivers rain drains.

    Flip the same can again, holes down. Fill the can with foam up to 2 inches (5cm). Use mattress foam or stuff with a small towel. This is the quiver's noise reducer and tip protection.

    Prepare the other four empty cans. Remove tops and bottoms of each can using a can opener. Save the removed lids, as you can use the lids to make arrow heads from later.

    Stack and superglue all four cans together. Glue them together one on top of the other. Add a thin ¼” thick foam rim on the top can (door/window foam works perfectly). This is the quiver's noise reducer.

    Add the first can under the last one and glue in place. This is your base.

    Duct tape the whole quiver on the outside. Alternatively, paint it using a primer.

    Insert an arrow to test the foam's positioning. If needed, make adjustments.

    Add loops or hooks to attach the straps.

    Paint the quiver black. add a pouch to hold extra glue, arrowheads and feathers.

    Completed. The arrow quiver is now ready for use.
    • The final product fits up to eight arrows.

Tips

  • It helps if you use the same product cans, because some cans are a bit different in size or shape.
  • Wash the cans thoroughly before using them. Allow them to dry out completely before use.
  • To avoid getting cuts, ask an older person to help you if you're not competent with can openers or drilling.

  • The edges of the lids are sharp; be careful when handling them.
