On your child’s upcoming birthday, stay away from the conventional banners that you get very easily at the dollar stores and get creative to make your own customized party banner that is sure to draw all eyes. A homemade banner not only declares your creativity but also makes the birthday celebrant feel special. Although making a photo banner seems to be a daunting task, with a little imagination and some basic household supplies, you will be able to create a stunning piece for your child’s birthday party decoration. The banner you make must match your party theme in order to give a coordinated look to your party venue. Below is a detailed step by step guide on how to make a banner for your child's party.

  1. 1
Decide on a theme for your party. Your photo banner must follow this theme.
    • Determine the theme of your party way in advance so that you get sufficient time to capture your child’s pictures for making a kids' birthday party.
  2. 2
Buy a character stuffed toy for your child. Make your child sit beside the stuffed toy and photograph him. Since you would need at least 10 to 12 images, try capturing only 2 in a single day so that the photographs you use for the banner will have your child in different dresses and in different moods.
  3. 3
Choose the best 12 to 15 photographs from your collection. Use them for your photo banner.
  4. 4
Print them on white cardstock. To give a classy look to the banner, you can convert all the images into black and white before printing.
  5. 5
Use a circle puncher to punch out circles from the photographs. Make sure the circles clearly accommodate the birthday child as well as the stuffed character toy.
  6. 6
Punch out circles from two different card-stocks. Each photo circle will need one circle from each card-stock variety. The photo circle should be 1 inch (2.5 cm) smaller than the card-stock variety 1 circle and the card-stock variety 1 circle should be 1 inch (2.5 cm) smaller than the card-stock variety 2 circles.
  7. 7
Paste variety 2 circles on variety 1 circles right at the center. Let the glue dry completely, then paste the photo circle on them.
  8. 8
Cut out lots of small circles from different card-stock.
  9. 9
Lay a ribbon flat on a table and use clamps to secure it tightly. The ribbon should be long enough to make the entire banner.
  10. 10
Paste 5 small circles on the ribbons in a way that they overlap each other. You can randomly choose a circle or create your own pattern.
  11. 11
Paste the circle bunch and repeat this until all the circle bunches are over. Do not remove the banner from its position until the glue is completely dry.

  • To make the banner eye-catching, choose pictures that show the funniest expressions of the child.
  • Choose bright card-stocks to make a colorful kids' birthday party banner.
  • Use strong glue so that the circles don’t fall off. You may use hot glue to secure them properly.
