How to Make a Patchwork Christmas Card

Here's how to create a really unique Christmas card, perfect for times when a generic store-bought card just won't cut it.

Steps

    1
Assemble the items needed to complete this project. These are listed below under "Things You'll Need".

Take the three pieces of patterned paper and cut out five small squares each. Each square should measure roughly 2.5 x 2.5cm (1 inch x 1 inch). Don't worry about making them the perfect shape or size; the overall appearance of the card looks better if each square is slightly different.

Glue each square to the card, leaving a small space between squares so that it looks like a mosaic. Follow the pattern shown in the picture.
    • Start by placing the first three squares down the left hand side and then complete the rest. You may need to trim the squares to fit them all in.

Draw tiny 'stitches' around each square. Don't be too precise about it. Make them roughly 2mm (5/64") long and mostly on the paper square, with just a tiny bit of the stitch on the card.
    • This creates the patchwork effect and it is a really nice technique worth remembering for future card projects.

Cut out your chosen Christmas message from the Christmas messages you've printed on the white card. Also cut out three tall triangle shapes (trees) from the green card, measuring approximately 3cm wide x 3cm tall (1.18" x 1/18").

Stick three sticky fixer squares to the back of your Christmas message and two sticky fixer squares to each of the trees. Space them out and peel off the backing. Ensure that any pencil marks you drew on the trees are on the back (the side with the sticky fixers on).

Position your Christmas message across the three squares on the 'patchwork' and stick it down. Then affix the centre Christmas tree just above the message in the middle.

Affix the other two trees on either side of the middle one, and hey presto! Your card should look a little something like shown in the image.
