How to Make a Pantry Raid Stir Fry

So often we are trying to use up leftovers and odd items from the pantry. This is a way to make a very quick stir-fry that will feed a family, and doesn't require a run to the grocery store. This is a great Soccer Mom meal that you can prepare between work and that evening game.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Noodles
    • Pasta Noodles
    • Ramen Noodles
  • 3 oz. Meat, sliced or diced
    • Pork
    • Chicken
    • Beef
    • Tofu
  • 1/3 cup Vegetables: Frozen, Sauteed, Raw
    • Snow Peas, Peas
    • Carrot Ribbons or Slices
    • Potatoes, White or Sweet Chopped
    • Green Beans
    • Mushrooms

Steps

    Prepare the meat element, if you use it. Slice the meat, clean the shrimp, or dice the tofu. This takes the longest to cook. Judge the time it takes to cook by the time it would take the vegetables to cook or finish cooking.
    • If you're using shrimp, you want to start off by cleaning them and taking the tails off. Don't pre-cook them unless the other elements will be done very quickly.

    Cook the noodles separately. Boil the water and prepare the noodles as normal. When done, add a small amount of olive oil to keep from sticking and toss.

    Heat the vegetables. Steam or sauté the veggies until they are almost done.

    Add the vegetables to the cooked meat and stir in the noodles. Cook until hot.

Ramen Noodle Method

    Slice the meat, clean the shrimp, or dice the tofu. It's leftovers, so it should be pre-cooked. Place into a skillet and heat with a small amount of water or light oil.

    Steep the Ramen noodles. Drain and put into a bowl with a small amount of olive oil to keep from sticking and toss. When the meat is warmed, add in to the skillet.

    Microwave the frozen veggies. When the vegetables are almost done, add to the cooked meat.

    Heat until suitable and serve.

Tips

  • There are several types of vegetables that can be used. Frozen, steamed, or raw can be used.
  • Boil the water and prepare pasta as normal or steep the noodles to be used.
  • Whole wheat macaroni works better because it has much less salt than the Ramen, or prepared noodle variety.

Warnings

  • Look at the labels. If you use prepared foods, you may find there is too much sodium or other elements people can react to.
  • Never cook vegetables or noodles with raw meat, or cook any raw meat with any items that can absorb meat juices.
