How to Make a Laundry Room Clothes Ladder Hanger

Tight laundry room and but still need a little storage or somewhere to hang your delicates? Instead of just throwing your clothes over the shower door, hoist a laundry room clothes ladder hanger. It’s an easy and decorative way to add functionality and style to any laundry room.

Steps

    Paint your ladder. Using a new and pre-sanded ladder, apply paint to the entire ladder. You may need to apply several coats to the ladder as you will be hanging items on it.
    • Make sure the ladder is completely dry before mounting it to the ceiling.

    Affix the hanging kit to the ladder. Drill anchors into the sides of the ladder making sure each anchor is evenly placed on all four sides of the ladder. Make sure rings are firmly in place before hanging.

    Secure chain through anchors. Hook each chain to the ladder, making sure the lengths are the same (so it hangs evenly from the ceiling).

    Measure the ladder and then transfer the measurements to the ceiling. You will want to place the hooks so that the two chains on each side of the ladder will evenly hook to the ceiling.

    Mount ladder to the ceiling. Hook chain to the ceiling hooks, holding ladder in place as you hang it.

    Add small hooks to the ladder rungs to prepare it for hanging clothing, etc. Also add hangers to the runs for other hanging options.

  • Wooden ladder
  • Paint
  • Re-enforced chain (4 pieces, the same length)
  • Tape measure
  • Ceiling hanging kit (complete with 2 hangers)
  • Electric drill
  • Small hooks (to hang over ladder rungs)

Tips

  • Another option is instead of mounting the ladder to the ceiling, mount to the wall.
