How to Make a Latte Using a Coffee Whisk

The latte is a coffee drink made with espresso, steamed milk and frothed or foamed milk. Latte can be mimicked at home without resort to the fancy machinery found in a coffee shop. For the latte fan at home, the use of a coffee whisk will produce a delicious and comparable latte-style drink, and while it's far simpler than that found in a coffee shop, it is still one that you'll enjoy immensely.

  • Any brand coffee powder (flavored is acceptable too)
  • Sugar
  • Milk

  1. 1
Keep a small amount of water for boiling on the stove or in the kettle. Till then, put 1.5 tablespoons of the coffee powder in a cup, and add 2/2.5 tablespoons of sugar to it.
    • If you don't want sugar, leave it out. Or, check out the suggested flavorings in Tips below.
  2. 2
Add boiling water to the cup. Add just enough to submerge the coffee and sugar mixture.
  3. 3
Whisk the mixture with the coffee whisk. Whisk till a nice, smooth frothy substance is formed. Once it has a good consistency, it's ready for the milk to be added to it.
  4. 4
Add hot milk slowly to the mixture. It needs to be added gradually, so as not to disturb the froth that the whisk has already formed. A steady hand and patience is important here.
  5. 5
Whisk the mixture once again. Whisk as much as you want. You might be happy with how it appears after adding the hot milk, but if the froth isn't enough for you, whisk again until a suitable froth forms.
  6. 6
Add a garnish. While the latte can be served as it is, you can improve it with an addition of your choice. Some possibilities are:
    • To enhance the latte, sprinkle cocoa powder on the top.
    • Add something spicy, such as a sprinkling of cinnamon or nutmeg.
    • A dollop of whipped cream can be dropped in the middle.
  7. 7
Serve immediately. Enjoy your homemade simple latte!

  • The amount of ingredients can be varied according to one's wishes.
