How to Make a Frozen Pasta Bake Meal Taste Better

Frozen meals are useful in a hurry but many of the cheaper versions can taste like cardboard or have watery sauces or too much salt. Fortunately, it is quite easy to improve a frozen pasta bake with a simple addition of more cheese and some easy, tasty food items. The fix suggested in this article is premised on a single serve frozen pasta meal. And very few dishes to clean up afterward!

  • Frozen pasta bake pre-made meal suited for a microwave
  • Cheese slice(s)
  • Baked beans
  • Tomatoes, thinly sliced

  1. 1
Remove the packaging from the pasta bake meal. Peel back the cling film from one corner and microwave according to the packaging instructions.
  2. 2
Prepare a plate while it cooks. Add a mixed salad or coleslaw to the plate and a thickly sliced piece of buttered bread.
  3. 3
Remove the pasta bake from the microwave. Peel the cling film off completely.
  4. 4
Add a layer of cheese slices over the pasta bake.
  5. 5
Spoon baked beans over the cheese slices.
  6. 6
Top with thinly sliced cherry tomatoes.
  7. 7
Pop the meal back into the microwave and cook for another three minutes. Remove, then let it stand for 2 minutes before transferring to the plate.
  8. 8
    Serve immediately and enjoy.
    • This goes nicely with a chilled glass of lemon and lime still water or a cold glass of milk. Or, if you'd rather a warm drink, have a cup of tea or coffee.

  • Eat while the meal is warm and comforting.
  • Follow with a mixed fruit scone filled with pineapples in toffee sauce, topped with cream.
  • Have a go and think up your own food combinations too.
  • If one likes vegetarian pasta bake, top with cooked shredded butter courgettes and spring onion.

  • Be careful of hot spots in the food from the microwave heating the food up.
