How to Make a Faux Fur Scarf



Faux fur is a great substitute for those who want the fur look but not the real fur. This scarf is really easy to make and is suitable even for beginners - with a little guidance.

Steps

    Cut the faux fur to a length of 120 centimeter (47.2 in). The width should remain 20 centimeter (7.9 in).

    Fold the faux fur length in half along its length.

    Stitch down one side. Make sure that the right sides are facing in.

    Turn the scarf to face the right side out.

    Finish with hand-stitching along each end.

    Make the pom-pom finishings for the end:
    • Cut two 20 centimeter (7.9 in) diameter circles. Use cardboard circles as the cutting guide.

    • Sew a running stitch around the outside of the circle.

    • Add a handful of polyfil to the centre of the wrong side of the fabric circle and pull this together tightly to draw the polyfil in tightly.

    • Stitch the pom-pom together.

    Attach each pom-pom to the ends of the faux fur scarf.

Tips

  • You can use your sewing machine to stitch the longer parts of this pattern but the ends and pom-pom finish should be hand-stitched.

Things You'll Need

  • 160 centimeter (63.0 in) length of faux fur, 20 centimeter (7.9 in) width
  • 2 handfuls of polyfil or similar filling for the pom-poms
  • Needle and thread
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine (optional)
