How to Make a Doll Out of a Cocktail Umbrella

Ever brought back an umbrella from a cocktail and wondered what to do with it? Well, don't throw it in the bin, and make a cute little doll out of only a cocktail umbrella, 5 or 6 toothpicks, tissue or yarn and paper.

  1. 1
First of all, use scissors to cut as much as the toothpick already inside. Get two toothpicks, make them blunt, and crack them slightly at the bottom for feet. Insert them in where the previous toothpick was, and if you want to, sellotape them.
  2. 2
Get a second toothpick and cut it to size. This will be the torso. Sellotape it to the white top of the umbrella. Glue paper around the torso, and colour it, if it is white.
  3. 3
Cut small pieces of toothpick as arms. Sellotape them onto the torso.
  4. 4
Get a small piece of paper and scrunch it up. This will be a head. Draw a face on your doll and glue the yarn/folded tissue/whatever you want to use as hair on your doll. Then would be a good time to style your doll's hair.
  5. 5
Use a toothpick to make a hole halfway through the head. Make a small ball of sellotape on the neck so that the doll's head won't fall off. Stick the neck through the hole that you made in the neck, and cello-tape the hole up.
  6. 6
Done! Enjoy playing with your doll!

  • Try not to drop your doll!
  • Make sure not to make your doll's hair or head fall off.
