Find a small unused metal coffee can (about 6 inches high). If you still have coffee in it, empty it, rip off the wrapper, and rinse. If you have to wash off the stinky gunk, scrub it with soap and hot water, and dry it with a towel. If you don't have a coffee can, an empty bottle will do.

Next, gather some supplies. You can use whatever you like to garnish your pen holder.

Glue all your decorative supplies on your metal coffee can with Elmer's glue.

  • Be creative! Tie ribbon around your jar!
  • Purchase patterned duct tape and neatly wrap the jar in it for a cool idea.
  • You can also paste drawing or photos to your new pencil holder for a more personal look.
  • You may use a plastic cup also. Glue paper to it to decorate.
  • Make sure you put the utensil's points down! This is convenient for grasping the pen and so you don't scrape yourself while reaching for one.
  • You can use jars as well.

  • Keep pointy pencils away from infants or babies.
