How to Make a Cream Cheese Pound Cake

This is a delicious, versatile, rich pound cake. It is great for snacking on with a glass of milk or serve with fruit (strawberries with syrup) and a dollop of whipped cream for dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine, softened (1 cup)
  • 1 stick butter,softened (1/2 cup)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Steps

    Preheat oven to 325 F. Grease and flour a 10" tube or bundt pan.

    In a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer, cream the margarine, butter, and cream cheese until fluffy - scraping down sides as needed.

    Add the sugar gradually, beating until fluffy.

    Add eggs alternately with flour, beginning and ending with flour.

    Pour mixture in prepared pan and use back of spatula(or spoon) to level surface.

    Put on middle rack of oven.

    Bake for 1 hour and 25 minutes.

    Cool for 10 minutes. Gently loosen sides with knife and invert on plate.

    Dust with powdered sugar when completely cool.

Tips

  • Avoid opening the oven while baking. The temperature inside the oven will change when the door is opened, and will affect the baking process.
