How to Make a Clay Magnet

If you are an educator or parent of small children, this craft may be enjoyable for your kids.


  1. Image titled CookieCutter Step 1
    Either model your magnet or use a cookie cutter to make it. Take care that the back is flat and it is not too big or heavy for the magnet.

    Let the shape dry thoroughly or bake the clay according to the manufacturer's directions.

    Paint and let dry (optional).

    Attach magnet to the back using superglue or hot glue.

  • Make sure that the way you attach the magnet to the shape is the way it will go onto the magnetic surface.


  • NEVER leave hot glue gun on unsupervised or near flammable objects
  • NEVER use superglue or hot glue without adult help/supervision
