How to Make a Bouncy Ball (Without Borax)

Many of the "recipes" out there for bouncy balls use Borax. In this article, you can learn how to make bouncy balls even if you don't have any Borax on hand.

  • 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon
  • 1 teaspoon of water
  • 2-3 drops of food coloring (whatever color you wish)
  • 1.5 teaspoon of water

  1. 1
Take all of your cornstarch, your first portion (1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon) of water, and your food coloring. Mix it in your bowl.
    • Using a popsicle stick is recommended in order to get all of your mixture off of the bowl.
  2. 2
Microwave your mixture for 20 seconds.
  3. 3
Add your second portion (1.5 teaspoon) of water to the mixture. Mix well.
  4. 4
Roll your bouncy ball mixture into balls.
  5. 5
Microwave your bouncy balls for 15 seconds. This will stop your balls from changing shape later on.

  • If needed, reshape your bouncy balls and microwave them again for 15 seconds.
