How to Make a Berry and Banana Smoothie

Berry and banana smoothies. Thirst-quenching, delicious berry and banana smoothies are packed with goodness from the vitamins and they taste fantastic too. There are many ways to make this delicious smoothie, so try a few of these suggestions, then experiment with your own berry combinations.

Ingredients

Strawberry Banana Smoothie:

  • 2 bananas (ripe)
  • 135g (1 cup) frozen strawberries
  • 500mL (2 cups) milk
  • 280g (1 cup) vanilla yoghurt (thick)
  • 1 tsp finely grated orange zest (optional)

Blueberry, Raspberry Sherbet and Banana Smoothie:

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 1/2 cups blueberries, frozen is recommended
  • 1 1/4 cups raspberry sherbet
  • 3/4 cup fat-free frozen yogurt
  • 1 cup berry blend juice, additional 1/4 cup if needed
  • 8 ice cubes

Paleo Berry and Banana Smoothie:

  • 1 cup coconut or almond milk
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/4 cup frozen mixed berries (you can add or subtract as preferred)
  • 1/2 to 1 scoop protein powder (optional)

Raspberry Banana and Avocado Smoothie:

  • 1 cup (130g) frozen raspberries
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 frozen banana, sliced evenly
  • 1 cup (250g) plain yogurt of choice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Sweetener of choice
  • Additional milk, if needed (optional)

Method 1
Berry and Banana

    Peel the two bananas. Slice out any bruises. Then, either cut the banana into small pieces or break into small chunks.

    Blend the bananas, strawberries, milk and yoghurt together in a blender. You can also add finely grated orange zest if you wish. Turn the blender to a high power for one minute, or until the mixture is completely frothy or smooth.

    Transfer to a serving glass and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Method 2
Blueberry, Raspberry Sherbet and Banana Smoothie

    Place the bananas, blueberries, raspberry sherbet, frozen yogurt and berry juice into the blender.

    Blend together until well mixed. If the blender is laboring, it will need more liquid, so add a little more of the berry blend juice.

    Add the ice cubes. Blend to combine the ice well.

    Pour into glasses. Serve immediately.

Method 3
Paleo Berry and Banana Smoothie

    Place the ingredients into the blender.

    Blend together until well combined and smooth.

Method 4
Raspberry, Banana and Avocado Smoothie

    Place the ingredients (apart from the milk) into the blender or food processor.

    Add the sweetener in the amount you prefer. This step is optional.

    Transfer to a serving glass. If the smoothie seems to thick, thin it down a little with some milk. Serve immediately.

Tips

  • Frozen berries are often considered more delicious because of their frosty, hard layer adding a little extra crunch.
