How to Make a Bead and Wire Loop Pendant
This pendant is a very effective focal point for a piece of jewellery and can be used on chokers, long necklaces or even in pairs as earrings. This article shows you how to make this unique and eye-catching accessory.
Steps
- 1Cut a piece of [Create Jewelry Through Wire Wrapping|wire] about 10 centimeter (3.9 in) long.
- 2Bend about 3mm of the wire to 45° using chain nose pliers.
- 3Grip the wire just after the bend with round nosed pliers and bend the wire around to bring it flat against the opposite side of the pliers, forming a loop.
- 4Grip the loop with the chain nosed pliers and bend the long end of the wire down so it is parallel to the short end.
- 5Hold the two pieces of wire together with pliers and bend the long end out at approximately 45°.
- 6Thread the beads onto the wire. Symmetrical designs are the most effective. Take into account what the pendant is for when choosing your beads, earrings will need smaller and fewer beads than if it is the focal point for a necklace.
- 7Bend the wire around to form a loop of beads.
- 8Wrap the wire around the top until all of the straight section is covered.
- 9Cut off any excess wire and tuck in any sharp ends.
- 10Attach the pendant to a piece of jewellery.
