How to Make a Baby Rattle at Short Notice

Baby's screaming, you've searched your nappy/diaper bag and realised in your insane rush out of the house this morning that you've forgotten to pack any toys...Never fear - a quick easy distraction is not hard to make.

Steps

    Find a bottle, or buy one at the shop and drink the contents. See warning 1.

    Find some small objects, rice is good but seriously who carries rice around in their purse? Small coins, rocks or candy from the store you got the drink from. See warning 2.

    Tighten cap of bottle and give to baby, make sure you remove any paper or plastic coating on the bottle.

Tips

  • Depending on your baby a plastic bottle is probably much safer than a glass one, mine tends to hit himself in the head with long objects that he grasps.
  • If the small objects are colourful it makes it a little more fun.
  • Remember the objects don't have to be all the same thing.
  • If they are noisy for example there is a bell in there, or objects that when shaken together make noise it's even more fun.

Warnings

  • Contents should be non-alcoholic for your baby's safety.
  • Don't let baby eat said small objects
