How to Make a Baby Book
Babies might not be interested in reading books, but they love to play with them, look at pictures in them, chew them and listen to someone read them to them (the sound of a book being read is a peaceful sound to a baby). Here is how to make a durable, fun book for a baby.
Steps
- 1Decide on a storyline. Something short, simple and snappy. Animals seem to be a big theme in babies books, and have been for years.
- 2Write out the story. Use big, wide letters, not joined up. Leave plenty of space for pictures!
- Use coloured paper. This will attract a babies attention. Make sure it is on good, thick paper.
- Consider typing it up. Then, if your handwriting isn't that good, the baby/reader can read it.
- 3Find cardboard. Cardboard is suitable, to make the book chunky and durable.
- 4Stick the written out stories on the cardboard.
- 5Draw matching illustrations on each page, and colour them with bright, bold colours.
- 6Carefully cut the corners of the cardboard so they are smooth and rounded
- 7Bind each page smoothly in clear tape, to preserve the pages.
- 8Consider how you are going to stick the pages together. Glue may not be suitable, as the baby may be able to lick it, and be poisoned. Sewing it with bright wool or thread very tightly may be suitable.
- 9Stick the pages together the way you have decided to.
- 10Put it on your babies shelf or wrap it up for whoever you are giving to.
