How to Line a Square Baking Pan

Lined baking pans make baking much easier, preventing the cake or other baked item from sticking to the sides of the pan. Knowing how to line the pan easily will speed things up and ensure that you don't have wrinkles and dents on your baked goods. Here's how.

Steps

    Measure the length and the depth of the baking pan. Use a ruler or a tape measure.

    Cut four sheets of parchment paper from the roll. The length of each sheet should reflect the length of the pan as measured, then add twice the depth as measured plus 4" or 10 centimeter (3.9 in) extra to allow for overhang.

    Trim each length of paper to the width of the baking pan.

    Place two sheets of the parchment paper facing one direction of the baking pan. Place the other two sheets facing the other direction. Ultimately the baking pan ends up with two sheets on each side and four sheets on the base of the pan.
