How to Learn the Alphabet Backwards

So, you've known how to say the twenty-six letters of the English alphabet forwards since you were in nappies/diapers - well done. But now, you're going for something different. You want to say it backwards. Only problem is, you're not that good at getting it straight in your head. No problem - this may be tricky at first, but with some practice you'll get it!

Steps

    Write it out on a sheet of paper. Read over it several times.

    Break it up into smaller groups: e.g: groups of threes, fours, etc.

    Begin at the last group (beginning in 'z') and work your way up.

    Practice. Then, practice some more. You did it as a child, you can do it now too!

    Challenge your friend with 'I bet you can't say the alphabet backwards!' This is optional.

    Make it into a song.

Tips

  • If you are having trouble with this method, and have quite a good memory to boot, try reading backwards repeatedly. This may work.
    • Repeat it daily for a few days so it sticks in your mind.
    • Review, and practice!
  • Get somebody (a parent or friend) to ask you to recite each individual group, one at a time. Then, put them together!
  • if you know someone that can do it, ask them to teach you and play games that help you learn it.
