How to Keep Your Hair in Place While Cheerleading

Hair in your face while trying to win nationals is not a good idea. Read on to find out how to keep it up!

Steps

    Brush/comb your hair and get rid of any tangles or knots.

    Spray a little bit of hairspray on a comb and run the comb through your hair to get rid of static electricity and flyaway hair.

    Tie your hair up into a neat high ponytail.

    Secure with a few hair bands. Rubber ones are best.

    Clip any loose hair at the side with hair clips or bobby pins.

    Put on hairspray around the elastic.

    Pull the elastic a little to tighten it up.

    Shake your head and do a cheer routine to see if it falls out.

    If it does, tie it up lower and put more hairspray and grips in.

Tips

  • Don't do this at the last minute. 99.9 times it goes wrong, then you get stressed and it never works.
  • Always take extra accessories. You may need them, or someone else might.
  • If you can't do it, get a friend or family member to do it for you.

Warnings

  • Using too much hairspray makes your hair greasy and oily.
  • Do not obsess over your hair while cheering. Focus more on what you are doing than how your hair looks; cheerleading is a sport, too.
  • Don't use rubber bands to tie your hair. They will rip and damage you hair.
  • The grips may catch on peoples hands when doing stunts.
  • Always practice putting your hair up, so you when you have to do it, it won't be the first time.
