How to Keep Bright Clothes from Running in the Wash

Even when you separate bright clothes from all your other clothes, you can't be sure they won't run still - into each other, creating a bright collage! Here is a very simple solution to prevent this problem.

Steps

    Pour vinegar into a bucket. The amount will depend on the amount of clothing being treated. Do not dilute the vinegar or it will not work.

    Leave to soak for 10 to 15 minutes.

    Wash as normal. The bright colours should not run.

Tips

  • Always use common sense when washing brights and separate from more delicate colours such as whites, pastels, soft lemon, pale pink etc.

Warnings

  • If in doubt, wash it separately!
  • Be warned, some colours run even after many washes - it depends on the dye and the fabric. Be vigilant.
