How to Juggle a Soccer Ball for Beginners
Juggling is a great skill for soccer games because it improves your touch with the ball. Read on to learn basic juggling in 8 easy steps, and some tips which will help to improve your games.
Steps
- 1Start with the ball in your hands. Throw the ball upwards instead of just letting it fall, this way you have more time to get your foot into position.
- 2Let the ball drop low. Don't hit the ball too high; you want to hit the ball about 10–20 centimeter (3.9–7.9 in) off the ground for best control.
- 3Lock your ankle, keep it firm. If your ankle is loose like jello the ball won't bounce back up.
- 4Curl your ankle upwards towards your chin. If you didn't curl your ankle, the ball will bounce in the wrong direction.
- 5Hit the ball with your laces. Don't hit the ball with any part of your foot except your laces, or the ball will bounce in the wrong direction.
- 6Make sure that the ball has backspin so it will go back towards your body and not just fly away.
- 7Keep your juggling foot in front of you while juggling, if you move it to the ground or back to your body you'll lose control of the ball.
- 8Keep your eyes on the ball, maintain your focus. This will help you more than any other step.
