Steps
Method 1 Inserting the Cartridge
- 1Open the game cover/lid to the NES.
- 2Push in the cartridge until it locks into place. This may take a few attempts.
- 3Push down on the cartridge to allow the spring to lock into place.
- 4Close the cover.
- 5Press the power button, or to restart your game, press the reset button.
Method 2 Cleaning the Cartridge
- 1Clean the cartridge if it won't load.
- 2Apply the alcohol to the toothbrush.
- 3Try scrubbing the metal pins where they connect to the NES.
- 4Dry off with some cotton balls.
Tips
- Sometimes the LED light will just alternate between on and off. This means the game cartridge is loaded incorrectly. To fix this, simply take it out and put it back in. If this doesn't fix it, then try to clean it.
- If you have a top-loading NES, simply put in the cartridge from the top and flip the red switch on. The grey button is the reset button.
Warnings
- Be careful when cleaning your cartridge. If it is too wet, it will break it.
