    Start at a good distance and and see how high you can jump. Don't start 20 feet (6.1 m) out.

    Without jumping, practice flicking your wrist. Then jump and flick your wrist. Pretend that the ball is in your hand and imagine what the path of the ball would be. See if you make it.

    Do some actual shots. Practice shooting the ball at the very top of your jump. The best way to do this is relax when your jumping. Then everything will seem to be in slow motion. When you feel that you've stopped going upward, shoot the ball.

    Stretch your wrists. When you jump, right when your feet get off the ground, stretch your wrists back and straighten your arms. So then your ready to flick the ball out of your hand.

    Make sure that when you shoot, that the ball spins in the air. Once you are good at this you can work on a fadeaway jump shot, were you basically jump back. This helps to keep your shot from getting blocked.

Tips

  • PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! It's the best tool you have.
  • After you've absolutely mastered a spot, practice shooting without jumping.
  • Set a goal number. Say,if you make 10 shots in a row, move back 2 feet (0.6 m).
