How to Host the Perfect Sixth Grade Sleepover

Do you want to host a night to remember? Invite your friends to a fabulous sleepover: Dance, laugh, and party! Inviting friends to your home is easy. Entertaining them? A breeze. Here are a few suggestions for the night of a lifetime. Be sure to laugh and not be demanding!

    When everybody arrives, introduce each other if they are not familiar with one another. (Though it's best all your guests know each other because it's going to be pretty awkward otherwise)

    Start off with some games and activities. Team activities are great, because they encourage the guests to work together, but only if there is an even number of guests so it is fair. Be sure to explain the rules of the game, even if you think everybody knows it.

    Talk late into the night.

    Prepare good food for lunch, or dinner. For vegetarian guests, have fruit salads, veggies, fruit and smoothies at the ready, if you want pizza, have everyone make their own mini pizza, keep in mind that everybody has different tastes and before breakfast, make sure you already know what everybody wants.

    Be respectful of guests who want to go to bed early.

    Be sure everyone joins in on the games or gossip you don't want them sitting doing nothing.

    As for breakfast, plan on when to get up so you have time to eat before everyone has to go home. Make a fun breakfast of pancakes, or egg and sausage casserole that can be made in advance and then prepared when the house begins to come alive.

    Plan on goody bags for the guests afterwards.

    Make sure everyone who was invited likes each other as friends and doesn't hate each other.

    However sick you are of your guests, you should still have the kindness and respect to take them to the door.


  • Make sure everybody having fun throughout the sleepover.
  • Make smoothies or fizzy lemonade, as these are always yummy!
  • Keep board games around for people who don't fall asleep and for people who wake up early. You can always play video games for a while then do something else because video games can get boring. Remember, you don't want anybody to get bored at all!
  • Have a white elephant trade off: Play games for little prizes that everyone brings, like:
    • Hair scrunchies
    • Lip gloss
    • Old magazines
    • Necklaces/bracelets
    • Stuffed animals
  • P.J. dance parties are fun, but arts and crafts are super fun too for those who are quiet.
  • Try to make this the best sleepover ever!
  • Everyone can trade items and gain these things for prizes.
  • Let people who want to sleep, sleep. Keep a room quiet for anyone who wants to hit the hay early..
  • Before the sleepover, check everybody about their allergies. You don't want them to spend what was supposed to be the best night ever in the emergency room!


  • Don't be too bossy! Even if it is your house, nobody likes a bossy host!
  • Make sure that people don't get too bored or homesick.
  • What secrets are told at a sleepover, should stay at a sleepover.
  • Make sure siblings have something to do while your friends are at your house!
  • Don't annoy parents and neighbours.
  • Try not to hurt anybody's feelings while playing games like Truth or Dare.
  • Don't plan every single moment, let other people pick out what to do, too!Everyone will have more fun without a tight schedule. Sometimes, just hanging out is the best thing to do!
  • Don't wake up your siblings or neighbors.
  • Don't wake anybody up any of your guests early if they're still sleeping!
  • Don't invite more than 10 people, you don't want it to get too crazy!
  • Respect your parents by not keeping them up all night by yelling and screaming.
