wikiHow to Help Save Animals from Extinction

Three Parts:Forming a PlanPossible PlansPutting Your Plan in Action

The number of animals at risk of becoming endangered or becoming extinct is rapidly rising across the planet. This is due to such things as loss of habitat when human settlements and agriculture encroach on the land animals need, use of wild animals for medicines, food (such as bush meat) and other products, reduced sources of food for animals, hunting and pollution. If you want to play a role in helping to stop animals from this fate, there are some great things that you can do to help out.

Forming a Plan

    1
Form a group. More people means more ideas, more fun, and more help.

    2
Brainstorm. Think about everything-and by everything, even the dumb ideas. Then go through the ideas and weed out the not-so-good plans and tack upon some really great ideas.

    3
Revise your plan. Remember, a truly polished plan has been revised and rewritten dozens of times.
    • Be sure there are no loopholes.
    • Be sure it makes sense. For example, storming the Royal Castle in England and holding the Queen hostage is not a good plan.

Become an expert. If you decided to write a letter to the President, then you'd want to back it up with facts, right?

Possible Plans

    4
Make a website. Explain your cause in detail and have a place where people can donate money.

Donate regularly to causes such as World Wildlife Fund or the Animal Welfare Center. Try selling things for the money.
  7. 7
Fundraise. Hold a fundraiser for one or more endangered species of animal. Call the money in to a zoo, whichever one is closest to you. This will make the conservationists interested, and they will probably want to have a meeting with you, during which you can plan more operations to help endangered animals.

Part 3
Putting Your Plan in Action

    1
Execute your plan. This step will vary depending on what your plan is.

    • You may need to try again with a different plan.

Keep pushing and pushing. There are many who want to save endangered animals, but few who can actually achieve that. People will take you seriously if you keep up a constant campaign.

Tips

  • Appear bold and confident, like you know exactly what you're doing. People will be more relaxed around you if you assume an authoritative nature.
  • These things take time. Maybe nothing will happen in your lifetime, but generations later, you might be renowned for your efforts!
  • Remember, this is not all your responsibility. Don't feel crushed if you personally can't save every species on the planet from extinction.
  • Be careful! Do not approach a crazy-looking muscle man carrying a machine gun.
  • Don't pressure people to do things they don't want to do.
  • Your plan doesn't necessarily need to cost big bucks.
  • If you decide to sell things, then get creative. Lemonade stands are pretty clich├ęd, but homemade cat toys might sell.

Warnings

  • Don't harass the government. Always maintain a respectful nature. Calling the President "a moron" will do nothing.
  • In short, don't do anything dangerous or stupid.
  • Don't pester people into giving you money.
  • Use the money for a good cause! Be truthful when you say "non-profit". Don't use the donated money to buy a new Wii game.
  • Do not wind up in jail. Constant pressure is good, but too much can be dangerous.
