How to Have a Spa Sleepover

Hosting a spa sleepover is a fun sleepover idea for girls of any age from 4th grade to high school. Spa sleepovers involve all sorts of fun activities - such as manicures and pedicures, foot soaks and face masks. Remember: you want to have the best party ever, so get creative with your spa ideas!

    If you live with your parents, confirm permission. Consult with your parents to make sure it's okay to have a sleepover. Make sure there are no plans made before hand and be sure your party will not be interrupted. If you don`t want to have your siblings along with your friends, ask them politely to stay in their room, or you could always invite them to join in!

    Invite. Send invites in the shape of a slipper, an eye mask, or something creative and related to spas. Be sure to include the time and location of the party, how to prefer the guests to R.S.V.P. Be specific when mentioning the type of party you are hosting. If you prefer using e-mail to send invites, make sure you have correct e-mail addresses.

    Make slight changes around your home to give it the "relaxed spa feeling." You can do this by switching light bulbs from bright to dim, have plenty of candles. Aroma therapy scents like lavender are relaxing.

    Make a list of what your friends need to bring. Example: lip gloss, brush, robe, lotions, candles, towels, DVDs etc.

    Make sure your home is tidy so your guests aren't uncomfortable. This is very important, clutter is not relaxing. Make slight changes around your home to give it the "relaxed spa feeling." You may want to pick out unique towels or robes for your guests to choose from.

    Make a store-run. For decent prices, it's best to go to Wal-Mart or Target. Pick out some nail polish, face masks, tea bags, etc. You can purchase a variety of face and foot masks for under a dollar each at Walmart. Be creative, imagine the perfect spa. There is no end to what you can do. Remember that you must have enough supplies for all the guests.

    Prepare. Lay out beds and set up drinks and food for your guests.

    Light a scented candle or use room spray. It's best to choose a relaxing scent, such as lavender or sandalwood. To enhance the relaxing experience, put on some music. Sounds of the rain forest or sea are very nice.

    Offer services. Start with a massage, manicure, or pedicure and use a toothpick to create your own designs on the nails.

    Wash up. Have your guests prepare their face with a gentle soy face wash, then rinse with warm water.

    Use your store bought face masks or a yogurt face mask.


  • Make sure everyone is comfortable. Make sure your room or wherever you are sleeping is big enough.
  • Make sure no one feels unhappy, uncomfortable or left out.
  • It's best to host a spa party on a Saturday after a stressful week.
  • If you invite friends who don`t know each other do a game so everyone can meet. One idea is to make everyone take a handful of peanuts and for every peanut they have, they have to give one fact about themselves.
  • Part of the fun is to look silly in all the spa stuff so don't get upset if you get laughed at. At least your friends are being entertained.
  • When you serve food, make sure it is light and not rich, because the whole idea to a spa party is being healthy.
  • If you're inviting just one person over and you have a bunk bed or two beds, let them sleep in one bunk or bed. They'll be more comfortable that way.
  • Name your spa! ex: Relax and Unwind Spa.
  • Make sure to always provide food so no one feels embarrassed about asking for food.
  • Ask people if they need something to show kindness and leadership to your friend.


  • Don't do something your other friends aren't allowed to do, e.g. watching a movie that you know their parents wouldn't allow them to see.
  • Make sure the movie is suitable and is not a tearjerker. Comedy is the best.
  • If you do a scary or sad movie, be sure to end it with a happy, goofy, and comedy movie.
  • Your parents might limit you to how many you can invite.
  • Don`t drink alcohol if you are under 21 or 18 depending on where you live.
