How to Get the Android Browser to Block Popups

Two Parts:Enabling the Pop-up BlockerUsing the Adblock Plus App

If you're getting a lot of pop-ups when you browse the internet with the Android Browser, your pop-up blocker may be disabled. You can re-enable it in the browser's Settings menu. You can also install an ad-blocker on your Android device, which can be a much more powerful solution.

    • Open the Settings app and tap the "Wi-Fi" option.
    • Press and hold your current network and select "Modify network" from the menu that appears.
    • Check the "Show advanced settings" box and set "Proxy" to "Manual".

Browse the internet with Adblock Plus.
    • Now that Adblock Plus has been installed and enabled, you should notice significantly fewer pop-ups and advertisements as you browse the web. Adblock will work across all of your installed browsers.
    • You'll need to configure the proxy settings for every Wi-Fi network you connect to in order for Adblock to work on that network.

Warnings

  • The pop-ups you're getting are often dependent on the websites you are visiting or the apps you are using. Websites that host illegal content are typically plagued with pop-ups, and avoiding these sites will help reduce the amount of pop-ups you get.
