How to Format Text on the wikiHow Forums

Compared to wikiHow, the wikiHow Forums uses a different way of formatting. It uses the Hypertext Markup Language, or HTML. You may not know this when you visit the wikiHow forums at first. If that's the case, then you might want to exit the wikiHow Forums for now and read this article.

Method 1
Bold Text

    Start by typing the <b> tag. This tag is what starts the bolding of the text. You can now start typing the text that you want to be bold.

Italitized Text

Hyperlinks

    This one is going to use the anchor tag. Start with <a href=. Type the URL that you want your hypertext to link to. Make sure that the URL that you type is inside the quotation marks, and then type a > symbol after the second quotation mark.

    Type the text that you want to be your hypertext, and then close the anchor tag. Preview your post and open the hyperlink in a new tab to see if it works. You should see your cursor being a hand with it's finger pointing upward. However, if it is the I shaped icon for when you hover over non-hypertext, then you did not type the anchor tag correctly. Revise it as necessary, and then preview it again.

Colored Text

    For this one, you are going to use the font tag. Start with , and then type what text you want in that color.
    • If you are using a color code, the color code needs to have a # symbol before the code itself, and the color code also needs to be inside the quotation marks.

Warnings
