How to Fix a Broken IBM Netvista PC
The Netvista is not supported by IBM and most stores nowadays, so you might need to fix it yourselves.
Steps
- 1Write down the make and model number of your PC.
- 2Visit IBM website and download all the necessary drivers for the component parts on the faulty PC (NIC, Video, Sound, etc).
- 3If your broken PC is another make, visit the website of the company that made the PC.
- 4Burn the driver on to a CD or DVD.
- 5Place the Operating System media in its drive (Windows XP, in my own case). Current boot drives are mostly CD or DVD drives
- 6Turn on the PC and allow it to boot.
- 7Follow the instructions to proceed with installation.
- 8Reboot the PC after you have fully installed the Operating System successfully.
- 9Insert the CD/DVD you burned in step 2.
- 10Right-click on “My Computer” icon.
- 11Select “Properties” (usually the last item on the menu that pops up)
- 12Select “Hardware” tab.
- 13Click on “Device Manager” button.
- 14Look out for all the devices whose drivers have not been installed (They will likely be marked with yellow question mark (?))
- 15Right-click on each of the devices and delete them.
- 16Go on and install back each of the devices and direct the source of driver to your CD/DVD when prompted for driver media source. [Do not use the recommended default option]. You may have to repeat step 15 and 16 again. This depends on the number of devices you have on your PC that are not supported.
- 1717. Reboot the PC again and you should be back in business (and happy).
Tips
- You might need your CD/DVD later.
