How to Enjoy Christmas with Your Children

Most of the time we fail to enjoy and spend time with our children or we don't have a good time together, but on Christmas we can do both.

Steps

    First cancel all appointments that might interfere with your plans. You may need to switch off your phones so that your children have a feeling that they are important to you and not 'that my parents/parent doesn't have time for me even on Christmas.' Make sure nothing interferes.

    Plan beforehand and let your children decide what to do. If they say something stupid don't judge them tell them to give other things a try or keep suggesting till they agree upon it. But don't order them to do something specific.

    Include those people who mix both with you and your children easily so that all can enjoy. You don't want yourself getting bored while your children enjoying, or vice-verse. Let your children call their friends. They might not feel that comfortable with all adults or they might get bored. Call your own friends.

    Let your children decide the menu. They will enjoy more. If your food likes are different from your kids then include a few food items you like but let the maximum of it be their choice.

    Buy presents that they like or have wanted since a long time. Not what 'you' like or 'you' consider good for them.

    Include many family games. They keep the whole family together without anyone excluded or getting bored.

    ENJOY. That is what you planned all this for, to enjoy. So don't take much tension and enjoy.

Tips

  • Dress the way you usually don't, and try new things. But don't make yourself uncomfortable. Let your children dress the way they want.
  • Don't scold them if your children do something wrong. Control your temper and don't spoil the mood. Tell them that its okay or simply forgive them but don't let your anger take over you.

Warnings

  • Make sure everyone is enjoying, 'No' one should get bored including yourself.
  • If your children have other plans don't force them. Just tell them that you are there if they change their mind. You want everyone to enjoy right.
    • Don't overdo things or your child will feel uncomfortable.
