How to Do Makeup on a Copper Toned Redhead

Makeup can be hard to do when you have red hair, especially copper toned red hair. If you are a redhead experiencing trouble with makeup choices, follow the suggestions offered below.

  1. 1
Apply moisturizer. Choose the moisturizer that you enjoy best. Evenly spread your moisturizer all over your face with your hands. Make sure to apply moisturizer under both of your eyes to cover any blue.
  2. 2
Apply foundation and concealer. For redheads, choose a foundation that is one shade darker than your skin tone. Apply it evenly all over your face: forehead, nose, cheeks, chin, under the eyes. Use concealer in the same shade as your skin tone. Apply it over blemishes, and if you have freckles and want to hide them, apply it over your freckles.
  3. 3
Use eyeshadow. The best shades of eyeshadow for redheads are light/dark browns, whites, and golds. If you are looking for a dramatic effect, try grays, blacks, and silvers. Avoid exotic colors as well as pinks. Also avoid red, as it will clash with your hair.
  4. 4
Add mascara. For redheads, mascara is best done only on the top lashes in dark black or brown.
  5. 5
Choose blush. Blush is completely optional for redheads but it is recommended that redheads opt for a neutral, very light brownish blush if it is used. Apply lightly, just on the cheekbones.
  6. 6
Add eyeliner. This is another optional step. Black eyeliner works best.
  7. 7
Use lip gloss and lipstick. This is the only time that pink is okay. A very light pink will accentuate your lips with either gloss or lipstick.
