How to Do Basic PC Maintenance

    Perform a Disk Cleanup. Disk Cleanup is a powerful built in program with almost all versions of Windows. Disk Cleanup deletes useless temporary files, cookies, and more.

    Remember to keep your Windows PC upgraded with Windows Update. Windows Update is a utility that is automatic on Windows Vista along with Windows 7 although on Windows XP you must visit the Microsoft homepage to update.


  • To find where these programs are located.
    • Press the Windows logo in the bottom left corner.
    • Type whichever program you are looking for I.E Disk Cleanup, Windows Update, etc.
    • Windows will search for that program and if spelled correctly should be the first one on the list.


  • Using Disk Cleanup may delete saved passwords.
