How to Do a 360 on a Wakeboard

Step up your moves with this intermediate trick.

Steps

    Be able to do a wake-to-wake jump comfortably

    Practice surface 360's - slow your boat speed down around 12 kilometers (7.5 mi) and spin on the water without actually getting any air. This will make you more comfortable with the handle pass sensation and also the feel of spinning on a wakeboard.

    when you feel good with steps 1 and 2 you are ready to try a 360

    Approach the wake with a progressive edge as you would normally when jumping the wake.

    Make sure to get pop (the momentum feeling of jumping off the wake properly) and then start your spin.

    While you are spinning (with left foot forward spin to the left coming in heelside at first, its much easier) when you get to the point where your back is about to face the boat, pass the handle from your right hand to your left. The handle pass is typically the most difficult part of the trick.

    Finish your spin, spot your landing, and absorb your body when you land

Tips

  • Make sure not to start your spin before actually hitting the wake, this will result in a minimal amount of height on your jump, and usually a fall.
  • If you can't get it for a while, just keep trying. The end result is worth it!

Warnings

  • Learning new tricks often results in a few falls. Falls while wakeboarding can result in serious injury, or in some cases, even death. This is the same no matter what trick you are attempting, or what skill level you are.
  • Only try this trick when you feel you are ready. Master the basics first.
