Plugins are secondary programs that help get some elements of a web page running. An example of a plugin is Adobe’s Flash plugin, which lets web pages display animated content for you to enjoy, as well as let videos play on web pages. Removing a plugin can yield catastrophic results and may be painstakingly difficult to restore, so it is generally recommended to simply disable undesired plugins from running in the browser.
