How to Delete Instagram Photos

There are many good reasons for wanting to delete an Instagram photo -- maybe you've posted a photo that you no longer like, or maybe you've realized that the photo you posted is inappropriate, immature, or just not that cool. Whatever your reason, you can delete Instagram photos in just a few clicks. If you want to know how to do it, just follow these steps. Hope this helps you!

    Sign in to your Instagram account.

    Navigate to your Instagram user page by clicking the "Navigation" tab.
    • You can find this tab on the bottom right of the screen.

    Search for the photo you'd like to delete.
    • On your user page, you will find all the photos you have uploaded until now. Search for the photos which you want to delete by scrolling the photos under "Grouped view" icon, which is above the photos and to the left side. Right now, there's no official way to delete photos in bulk, so you'll have to do this one photo at a time.[1]

    Tap on the photo you'd like to delete.
    • This will select the photo.

    Select the "Options" button.
    • You can find this button on the bottom right side of the screen.

    Click "Delete."
    • You will be given a list of options, and the first one will be a red "Delete" button. Select this option.

    Click "Delete" again.
    • After clicking "Delete" for the first time, you'll be asked to confirm whether or not you'd like to delete the photo. Click "Delete" again and the photo will be deleted.


  • Sometimes after deletion the photo is still visible, then its probably an old cache that hasn't been updated. If photo continues to be visible for a prolonged period of time then contact Instagram help center immediately.
  • Use the "List view" if the photo you want to delete is a recent one. In list view the photos are visible with the "options" tab available below it. It just saves a little amount of time.
  • Think twice before you delete your photo as the deleted photo can't be retrieved back.
  • Searching becomes easier if the photo that you want to delete was available recently in your feeds. Just go to your feeds and click the delete option to delete it.
  • If the photo that was deleted was shared then the photo link continues to work up to 4 hrs and then the link vanishes or stops working.

  • The searching process can get lengthier, if you want to delete a very old photo. As you have to keep on waiting for the photos to load. For example: You have some 600 photos and you want to delete your old photos which you uploaded when you joined the Instagram, then its pretty much tough to reach that photo.(Instagram shows up to 16 photos in one feed for your user page)
  • Think twice before deleting a photo as the deletion process can't be undone and neither can the photo be retrieved back after deletion.
