How to Copy or Move Files Within Box on iOS

If you have some items on your Box account that you’d like to copy or move, there’s no need to use your computer and get into your Box account online. If you have Box installed on your iPhone or iPad, you can make these actions easily and quickly. You can copy or move by individuals files or by batch.

Method 1
Copying a File

    Launch Box. Locate the Box app on your iOS device. It’s the app with a blue background with the word “box” on it. Tap on it to launch Box.

    Log in. If you’re already logged in, you may skip this step; otherwise, input your Box email address and password in the appropriate fields then tap the blue “Log in” button.

    View the folders. The home screen displays all the folders in your Box account. Scroll through them.

    Find the file you’d like to copy. Navigate through your Box folders as needed by tapping on them. Once you find the file, tap on it to open it.

    View the file. The selected file will be loaded on your screen, and you will be able to see its contents.

    Copy the file. On the upper-right side of the preview is a small box with an arrow pointing left. Tap on it to bring out a right panel with file options and menus. Tap “Copy this File,” and a pop-up window will appear for you to select the destination folder where the copy will be placed.
    • Select the destination folder and tap “Choose” from the lower-right side of the window.

    View the copied file. The selected file will be copied to the destination folder you’ve selected. Navigate to the destination folder and view the file from there by tapping it.

Method 2
Copying Multiple Files

    View the folders. The home screen displays all the folders in your Box account. Scroll through them.

    Find the folder where the files you want to copy are located. Navigate through your Box folders as needed by tapping on them. Stop once you’re in the folder that contains the files.

    Bring out the folder details menu. On the upper-right side of the folder view is a folder icon; tap on it to bring out the folder details and actions on the right panel.

    Select the files to copy. On the right panel under the folder actions, tap the “Multi-select” action. This option will allow you to select and work on multiple files at once. The file list will have tick circles in front of them. Tap on the files to select them.

    Copy the files. At the top of the screen, action buttons will appear after the selection starts. These buttons are “Copy,” “Move,” and “Delete.”
    • Tap the “Copy” button to copy the selected files, and a pop-up window will appear for you to select the destination folder where the copies will be placed.
    • Select the destination folder and tap “Choose” from the lower-right side of the window.

    View the copied files. The selected files will be copied to the destination folder you’ve selected. Navigate to the destination folder and view the file from there by tapping it.

Method 3
Moving a File
