How to Conceal a Nail Head in Wood

Hiding nail heads that have been hammered into a wooden surface may be desirable for aesthetic or design purposes. Here is an easy way to do so.


  1. Image titled Chisel a Small Shaving Step 1
    Chisel a small shaving that is parallel to the grain of the wood. Do this at the point where the nail will be hammered in.
  2. Image titled Leave one end of shaving attached Step 2
    Make sure to leave one end of the shaving still attached to the surface of the wood.
  3. Image titled Put nail in it Step 3
    Put the nail in.
  4. Image titled Fix attached shaving back in place Step 4
    Fix the attached shaving back in place with a wood suitable adhesive.
