How to Chop Brinjals

Brinjals are also called eggplants. They cook in a very less time. They come in different sizes and colors in India.They are used to prepare a variety of curries in India. I would be introducing different ways of chopping them and cooking them in different ways in separate articles. In this article, I would be presenting the method of chopping them. Here I am using small and round ones.


  • 2 Brinjals
  • 1 tablespoon salt

    Wash brinjals under running water.

    Hold one brinjal in the hand.

    Make a small hole at one part of the brinjal with the help of the knife.

    Cut along with this in lengthwise with a knife. These slices should be thin in size and shape.

    Add some water a bowl and immerse these pieces of brinjals in it. This helps discoloration of the brinjals.

    Add salt to keep the brinjals free from discoloration.


  • Add lemon juice instead of salt.
