How to Catch a Runaway Frog

Pet frogs do run away, if you are not careful. Losing your pet frog will break your or your kid's heart. Here is how you can capture your runaway amphibian friend.

Steps

    Take everyone out of the house, including pets and kids. Close off exits to the outside of the house so the frog will remain indoors.

    If your frog got lost on one room close that room and turn on all of the lights.

    Know that frogs will always look for a warm and dark spot to hide.

    Check under the bed, furniture, on your closet, they specially like to be inside the shoes.

    Get a flash light to look on dark spots.

    Place some of the frogs favorite meal on clue spots so you can see if it comes out and eat.

    Place a shallow dish of water throughout the entire house the frog will be attracted to the water.

Tips

  • Prevent frog escapes in the first place:
    • Make sure the aquarium is properly sealed with enough ventilation, light and spots to hide. Reduce the frogs temptation to run away to look for a safe area.
    • Make sure it has enough food as that's another reason your pet frog might run away.

Warnings

  • Do not enlist your dog in the hunt for the frog.
  • Do not panic.
