How to Care for Doll Hair

Does your child have a doll? Does that doll's hair get all gross and messy? Follow these tips to find out how to care for doll hair!

    Before you start to brush a doll's hair you want to get it damp.

    Get a spray bottle and fill it with water and dampen the doll's hair.

    When brushing a doll's hair, make sure to always start at the bottom and work your way to the top.

    Never rip or pull the doll's hair while brushing it, always go slow and be gentle.

    Hold the scalp of the doll's head while brushing so that you do not pull any of the hair out.
    • If you want to wash a doll's hair you will not have to use any special shampoos or conditioners. You will use what you have but do not use very much and be very gentle. After you wash the doll's hair you want to brush it out using the instructions above.


  • Never apply heat to plastic doll hair! It will melt it!
  • Do not allow your children to use cut the doll's hair themselves. They do have special places you can take the dolls to to get that done.
  • Be gentle with doll hair.
  • When brushing start at the bottom and work your way up.
  • If the doll has curly hair you might want to take it to a specialist.
  • If the doll has curly hair do not brush it yourself!
