How to Brush Kids' Teeth

Brushing your child's teeth is very important. To make sure you're brushing your child's teeth the right way read the following.

Steps

    Prepare the child's toothbrush and toothpaste.

    Have warm water ready for your child's teeth.

    Begin brushing his/her teeth in the back of his/her mouth.

    Move to the front of the mouth slowly.

    Brush your child's teeth in a circular motion.

    Now, brush the inside of the child's cheeks to get food particles out.

    Also brush on the top of his/her mouth, to clean out plaque.

    Finally, brush the tongue and reach as far as your child feels comfortable with.

Tips

  • Never use very cold water on a small child's teeth.
  • Brushing in a circular motion helps get more food particles out
  • Brush your child's teeth after every meal (or at least twice a day)
  • Always try to get the molars, which is where food builds up at.
  • Always remember to brush slowly, brushing fast will make the child feel uncomfortable and/or cause the gums to hurt.

Warnings

  • Be careful not to go too far back! You don't want to trigger the gag reflex!
